Behind The Band

Rowan Phillips

Bassist

Hey everyone, my name is Rowan and I play bass for Tetrasteede! We are each going through and writing little bios for ourselves since we have all this free time, and we wanted all our amazing followers to know a little more about us, so stay tuned for more to come! No
I was born in Paoli in 1993, and have lived in the area my entire life. I was homeschooled until 9th grade, then went to Paoli High School, where I graduated in 2012! I live in Orleans with my beautiful wife (our amazing photographer) Katlin! We have been together since the end of 2012, no kids, but we have three cats (Jemimah, Sushi, and Comet) and a Corgi named Chester, so it's about as hectic in our little house as it would be with a kid ;)
Funny story, I never planned on playing bass! I started playing music in 2003-2005 (not sure on the dates cause I'm bad with that stuff) when a family friend gifted me an Epiphone Les Paul starter kit, but I have always been around music my whole life. My father was an amazing drummer and guitarist, and my close family friends all played Irish, Scottish, and American folk music, as well as bluegrass. When I got into my early teenage years, I got into different styles of rock and metal, mainly deathcore, post-hardcore, and power metal, but now I will listen to literally anything from Amon Amarth to Lady Gaga.  I was actually in a deathcore band called Beneath the Necropolis for a very short time as a teenager with some of my good friends that I grew up with!
I joined Tetrasteede when our original singer (who worked for me at the time) offhandedly mentioned that his band was looking for a bassist, and I told him that I would try out, because how different could bass be from playing guitar?? Obviously I sucked, but they gave me a chance to learn and get better and the rest is history! About a year before I joined the band, I actually injured my left index finger with a machete and had almost no mobility, and had to go into physical therapy to resolve it as I couldn't fret any notes on the neck of the guitar/bass, so I was almost unable to play any kind of guitar effectively again!
My favorite bands (currently) are CellDweller, Hands Like Houses, and Sabaton, but that changes daily depending on my mood.
My hobbies pretty much revolve around playing video games (Xbox/PC), music (wow major shocker there huh?), hiking, camping, watching history documentaries, and building/repairing computers!
One last fun fact, if you stabbed me if probably just bleed Monster (the energy drink) instead of blood. seriously I should be sponsored by them by now with how much I drink that stuff :P

Anthony Stafford

Guitarist

Born and raised in Southern Indiana I have always had a relatively simple life. I got into music in 5th grade doing percussion and it was the perfect for me. I was invited to join the high school band in the 6th grade. This is where I was introduced to the song Iron Man. I'd never heard anything like it before. When I was 14 I gave my life to Christ  and my music ability progressed drastically. This caused me to try other instruments and I was pulled towards electric guitar. Some friends and I started a band called Aftershock. We covered Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Dio, all kinds of stuff. After a while we lost interest and the band dissolved. I joined a band from Paoli called Renounce The Fame. They were a Christian metalcore band. I wasn't a Metalcore fan at the time so this forced me to learn another side of metal that I was unfamiliar with. This was an amazing learning experience for me. After Renounce The Fame I didn't do much with music, other than getting together with friends (Dillon Hensley) every now and then. Went to college for a bit for graphic design, then to work full time, and the guitars sat for a while. Life goes on a few years and I was ready to play again.
Stephen listed most of the details of the early days of what became Tetrasteede. Overtime we remodeled my basement and had a decent set up. My favorite part of it all is writing. Everything has always came natural to me and it very rarely feels like work. I hope to influence people to pick up an instrument themselves and to end the stereotype that metal can only be evil. With Tetrasteede I feel like we bridge the gap between old school and modern metal. Being a Christian metal musician has always been a struggle. The world says I can't exist and I have always been pushed from both sides. Tetrasteede has allowed me to be myself and has left me completely open as far as creativity. Thanks guys! Being together has made us push ourselves harder and we have all have became better musicians because of it.
I have an absolutely amazing family!
Other hobbies include shooting and working on firearms and videogames with my family.
My favorite bands include Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Dio, System of a Down, Overkill, Iced Earth, Arch Enemy, Amon Amarth .....too many to list
My musical influences are Tony Iommi, Darin Malakian, Dave Linsk, Michael Amott
My Favorite brands are Schecter, B.C.Rich, Epiphone, Peavy, Line 6, DigiTech, and Glock ;-)
My favorite foods are grilled hotdogs, Qdoba, chocolate milk and Sunkist

Stephen Brosman Jr.

Drummer

Stephen Brosman Jr.
I was born in Indianapolis in 1992. We moved to southern Indiana in the summer of 2003. An athlete all of my childhood and teenage years playing baseball and football, I didn't pick up the drums officially until Christmas of 2005. Up to that point I had just played around on my Uncle's kit from around the age of 4 years old. I was pulled from PE one day in school in the fall of 2005 to the band room by some fellow students. I was known to tap on my desk and they wanted me to try out for concert band. So I joined concert band the next semester of 7th grade and exited halfway through 8th grade to pick up a study hall for my grades. Despite leaving concert band I never stopped practicing though.
I co-founded Tetrasteede, before it was named so, with my brother-in-law Anthony Stafford. His skill and my lack-there-of forced me to get better. We started with a couple of friends from school in 2014 but had to make some lineup changes due to two members (Kirk and Zack) heading off to college. Fast forward a tad and we picked up Kyle (guitar) and Ryan (vocals). Ryan's inability to attend practice seen his departure and made way for Jerry to fill his spot. Shortly after we adopted the name Tetrasteede and the rest of the story has been public knowledge since then. All this time I've done my best to be a halfway decent drummer and keep up with the amazingly skilled members we have/had in the band. Without them, I wouldn't be half as good as I am today, and I thank them all very much.
I am married to my wife Miranda who I have been with since 7th grade, and we have 2 beautiful children named Ronan and Violet.
My favorite bands include The Beatles, Slipknot, Avenged Sevenfold, Attila, and I Prevail.
My Influences are Joey Jordison, Gabe Helguera, Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan, and simple 4/4 hip hop beats I listened to growing up.
My Favorite brands are Ahead drumsticks, Remo heads, and Zildjian Cymbals.
My favorite foods are pepperoni pizza, french fries, and Monster Energy Drinks.

Dillon Hensley

Guitarist

A band wouldn't be complete without its Guitarist, and Tetrasteede couldn’t have asked for a better one than the talented Dillon Hensley.

Jerry Strange

Singer

I was born in Salem, Indiana. I was raised in Fredericksburg, Indiana. I have been influenced by music my entire life. My dad liked to play guitar, and my mom liked to sing, therefore it was only fitting that I pick up the drums Started with simpler stuff that I still love to this day, such as AC/DC, KISS, Boston, Guns N' Roses. As I got faster and better, I started wanting more of a challenge. Then I found Metallica around age 13. Since then, I've been a die-hard metal fan and have fallen in love with all types and sub genres of different metal. I have also been playing guitar and bass since I was about 14. I've been in and out of multiple different bands from southern Indiana since I was probably 15 or 16. I left Tetrasteede a few years ago to pursue some other interests. At the time, the fire under the band seemed to be dying (to me,) fights were getting more frequent and slowing our progress, and worst of all, I was losing interest. In early 2022, I had heard that my replacement, Bobby Wilson, was no longer active in the band. I had also seen on social media that they had some gigs already scheduled in the near future. I had the time to help them out, as my then current band was on standby due to a member dealing with family issues, so I shot Stephen a message saying "If you need me to fill in, I'll be there." Long story short, I played with Tetrasteede again for the first time in 3 years on June 18th and the fire was definitely burning hot again. I am thrilled to be back with my brothers in the Steede and will do everything I can to take us to new levels to share our music with the world. Heavy metal and music in general is a passion that I couldn't give up even if I wanted to. It is as essential to me as oxygen. I do this for the people who feel the same as I do. I do it for the people who fell in love with music, just like I did. It's Good to be back, my brothers. Long live Tetrasteede, Long live Heavy Metal.
